RESOLUTION N0. 288 94
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County
Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create
positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council
and abolish positions with the consent of the council."; and
WHEREAS, after careful review of the staffing needs at the
Hoolulu Park Complex, especially on the weekends and during major
events, it was determined that additional positions were needed
rather than full-time positions; and
WHEREAS, having two (2) part-time positions rather than one (1)
full-time position would result in having additional staff without
increasing the salaries and benefits; and
WHEREAS, a convenient time to change a full-time position to two
part-time positions would be when a position is vacant; and
WHEREAS, Position No. 2842, Facilities Maintenance & Service
Worker I, BC-03, is presently vacant; and
WHEREAS, by deleting Position No. 2842, Facilities Maintenance &
Service Worker I, BC-03, and adding one (1) Facilities Maintenance &
Service Worker I 3/ST BC-03, and one (1) Facilities Maintenance &
Service Worker I 2/ST BC-03, the weekend services would increase as
well as aid in the preventive maintenance program; and
WHEREAS, additional funds in the salaries and wages account of
the Hoolulu Park Complex of the Department of Parks and Recreation
are not needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Position No. 2842, Facilities Maintenance & Service
Worker I, BC-03, be deleted and one (1) Facilities Maintenance &
Service Worker I 3/5T, BC-03, and one (1) Facilities Maintenance &
Service Worker 12/5T, BC-03, be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Parks and Recreation, Finance and
Civil Service.
