May I take this means to express my condolences on the
passing of .your beloved husband, and my friend of many years.
Richard was an esteemed leader in our state, and I was
indeed blessed to have known, worked and learned from him.
Richard's knowledge, involvement and interest in government,
politics, agriculture, economic development, education and the
concerns of the Hawaiian community, made him an invaluable
resource to all who consulted him.
Richard's tenure with the Estate of Bernice Pauahi
Bishop reflected his many talents for under his leadership he
molded the very successful operations of the Estate and its
principal beneficiary, the Kamehameha Schools. In keeping with
the will and intent of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the
children of Hawaiian decent were well served by your husband.
Many of us will miss Richard's wisdom, but the rich
legacy that he leaves behind will always remain with us and
will continue in perpetuity to have impact upon the generations
to follow.
Enclosed is a council resolution expressing and
extending our deepest sympathy.
