REPORT OF THE
COMMITTEE ON INTER-GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS
Date: February 22, 1989
Place: Councilroom
Time: 1:30 p.m.
Re: Res. 25
Chairman and Members
Hawaii County Council
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Your Committee on Inter-Governmental Relations, to which was
referred Resolution No. 25-89, reports as follows:
The purpose of this resolution is to convey to the Governor and
Legislature our support of measures introduced by Senator Malama
Solomon and Representative Dwight Takamine. These measures
appropriate funding for the construction of a new health care
facility in Honokaa for long-term care, primary out-patient care and
medically assisted retirement housing. These measures also
appropriate money for the planning of a hospital in Waimea which
would include acute care, emergency care and skilled nursing
services. The effect of these measures is to up-grade the quality
of health care facilities and services to North Hawaii.
Your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution
No. 25-89 and recommends it be adopted.
