COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, child care is a major issue in our work and family
environment; and
WHEREAS, the ever increasing daily needs of our society often
mandate that both spouses in the household be employed; and
WHEREAS, families, blessed with children, must face the problems
of providing for the care of their children during work periods; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 14 of the 1988 Hawaii Government
Employees Association General Assembly resolved that the several
county councils be urged to support on-site self-supporting child
care centers for public employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it requests the Mayor of the County of Hawaii to assess
the feasibility of establishing on-site self-supporting child care
centers for public employees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVEll that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Bernard K.
Akana, Mayor, County of Hawaii and to Mr. Gary Yoshiyama, Division
Chief, Hawaii Government Employees Association.
