RESOLUTION No. 43 89 WHEREAS, the month of March has been designated Red Cross Month; and WHEREAS, the American Red Cross in Hawaii serves our island community through its health, community, and disaster assistance programs; and WHEREAS, the American Red Cross, through its volunteers, helps the people of this county prepare for emergencies and cope with them after they occur; and WHEREAS, the American Red Cross volunteers of West Hawaii selflessly serve their community; and WHEREAS, the West Hawaii Service Center of the American Red Cross had its First Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on March 29, 1989 in Kailua Kona, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that this Council joins in recognizing the unselfish contributions made by the West Hawaii American Red Cross volunteers and encouraging the continued growth and expansion of services and programs of the American Red Cross West Hawaii Service Center to address the growing needs of the West Hawaii community. Your Committee understands that the month of March was designated Red Cross Month by President George Bush and that the American Red Cross West Hawaii Service Center honored its volunteers at its First Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on March 29, 1989. Your Committee finds that the volunteers of the American Red Cross West Hawaii Service Center deserve recognition for their selfless efforts on behalf of the community. Your Committee further finds that that it is appropriate to encourage the growth of services and programs of the American Red Cross West Hawaii Service Center.
