Your Committee on Economic Development, to which was referred
Resolution No. 48-89, regarding the economic impact of the bacterial
blight on Hawaii's anthurium industry, reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 48-89 is to urge Governor John Waihee
to honor the request of the Hawaii Anthurium Industry Association
and declare the Hawaii anthurium blight a disaster so that the
U. S. Secretary of Agriculture may make the same declaration,
thereby allowing Hawaii's congressional delegation to seek federal
assistance from the U. S. Department of Agriculture.
Your Committee on Economic Development concurs with Resolution
No. 48-89 and
