RESOLUTION N0. "J4 ~9
WHEREAS, the Honokaa High and Elementary School has evolved from a
tiny elementary school established in 1889, to the outstanding
educational institution that it is today; and
WHEREAS, friends of the school are preparing to celebrate Honokaa
School's 100th Anniversary on July 29, 1989 with a myriad of activities
under the general theme "One Hundred Golden Years"; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council agrees that this occasion merits
special recognition because the school has, through the years, graduated
many outstanding men and women, who have touched the lives of residents
of the County and the State of Hawaii in very special and positive ways.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that we congratulate the many individuals who are volunteering
their time to plan and work on this special event and extend to them our
best wishes for a very successful centennial celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we extend a warm Aloha and "Welcome
Home" to the many friends of Honokaa School who will be returning from
places far away to renew old friendships and to relive fond memories.
BE I'P FURTHER RESOLVED that we join the residents of Honokaa in
celebrating this very special occasion and extend to the friends of
Honokaa Elementary and High School our best wishes for the future.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
hereby instructed to send copies of this resolution to Jerry Sakamoto,
Principal, Honokaa High and Elementary School and Dominic Yagong, Events
Chairman.

Re: waiver of Committee Referral
Pursuant to Section 1(d) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of
the Council of the County of Hawaii, this written approval is
submitted in regards to Resolution No. 74-89 , relating to the
Honokaa School celebration, for waiving said referral from the
Committee on Human Services and Recreation, in order that
appropriate action can be taken by the Council.
In reviewing the contents of the referral, it is deemed
advisable that such waiv e be granted.
