This project, with an estimated cost of $57,500, proposes to extend the walkway on the ocean side of Kalanianaole Street from the Kuhio Street entrance to the Hilo Wharf to Kumau Street. The project consists on constructing both concrete sidewalks and asphalt concrete walking areas. The project also includes the construction of a drywell sump for drainage, two 18"/wide planting areas, and two 4' wide seepage pits which may also be planted. Your Subcommittee on Beautification recommends that this project be approved and implemented as planned. Your Subcommittee further recommends that this project be referred to the Finance Committee for funding. Your Subcommittee suggests that funds for this project can be made available by reducing the appropriation from the Beautification Projects Islandwide Miscellaneous Account (5525.01-341) by $40,000 and by reducing the Beautification Contingency Miscellaneous Charges Account (5911.22-341) by $20,000.
