HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 115 Draft 01 1988-1992COUNTY OF HAWq~,I ;~;5~'ATE OF HAWAII :ES__ RESOLUTION No 115 89 WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.4(c) states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council..."; and WHEREAS, Ka'u High and Elementary School has a student population of 540 students with no school crossing guard; and WHEREAS, approximately three-fourths (3/4) of the students either walk to school or are driven to school by their parents while the remaining one-fourth (1/4) utilize public transportation; and WHEREAS, all of the students must use the Kamani-Pikake intersection, which leads into the school; and WHEREAS, adding to the congestion at this intersection is a bus stop and a pay phone; and WHEREAS, a school crossing guard would alleviate the congestion at this intersection; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the salaries and wages account of the Police Department to cover the cost of the additional School Crossing Guard; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that one (1) School Crossing Guard position be created to be assigned to the Ka'u High and Elementary School. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments of Police, Civil Service and Finance. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this 20th day of December , 1989.
