RESOLUTION No. 14~ 90
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Hotel Association is a statewide
organization whose purpose is to advance the interests of the hotel
industry and the communities where it does business; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Hotel Association sponsors the annual
Charity Walk that benefits the island's non-profit organizations and
in turn the local residents; and
WHEREAS, the monies realized from the Charity Walk held on this
island will be distributed to agencies and non-profit organizations
on this island such as the Brantley Center, Boys Club of Hilo, Hilo
Association for Retarded Citizens, Kona Krafts, American Red Cross,
Kona Adult Care Center, North Hawaii Hospice, American Cancer
Society, the Salvation Army and others; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Hotel Association, Hawaii Chapter, is
sponsoring a golf tournament at the Kona Country Club and a
dinner/auction at the Keauhou Beach Hotel on May 12, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the Charity Walk Golf Tournament/Dinner/Auction will
generate advance publicity for the annual Charity Walk to be held
later on May 19, 1990.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it supports the Hawaii Hotel Association, Hawaii
Chapter's worthwhile endeavors and wishes them success in the golf
tournament and the annual Charity Walk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Mr. Roy Thompson, Mr. Jeffrey B. Martin and Mr. Wilton
Wong, Co-Chairmen, Charity Walk Golf Tournament/Dinner/Auction.

Your Committee on Human Services and Recreation to which was referred
Resolution No. 142-90, reports as follows: .
The purpose of Resolution No. 142-90 is to support the Hawaii Hotel
Association, Hawaii Chapter's worthwhile endeavors and to wish them
success in the Charity Walk Golf Tournament on May 12, 1990 and
Annual Charity Walk on May 19, 1990.
Your Committee understands that the Hawaii Hotel Association's annual
charity walk is a source of funding for such human service agencies
as the Braatly Center, Hoys and Girls Club of Hilo, Hilo Association
for Retarded Citizens, Kona Krafts, American Red Cross, Kona Adult
Day Care Center, North Hawaii Hospice, American Cancer Society,
Salvation Army and others.
Your Committee finds that the Hawaii Hotel Association's annual
Charity Walk provides a charitable public benefit worthy of
recognition and support.
Your Committee on Human Services aad Recreation is in accord with the
purpose of Resolution No. 142-90 and recommends its adoption by the
County Council. ~
