HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 163 Draft 01 1988-1992OFFICE INFORMATION ONLY Meeting: April 10, 1990 Action: Approve and adopt liDC Report D:o. 13 Re: Res. 163-90 COUNTY OF HAW,/~~ :;,::STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION No. 1~3 3© WHEREAS, 98~ of the total macadamia nut production in the State of Hawaii comes from Hawaii County and this industry will eventually be the number one agriculture crop in the State, barring any unforeseen catastrophe; and WHEREAS, the 30th annual meeting of the "Hawaii Macadamia Nut Association" is scheduled to be held at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel on Friday and Saturday, May 4th and 5th, 1990; and WHEREAS, activities being planned for this annual meeting promise to attract greater participation than was experienced at last year's record attendance meeting which was held in Kailua-Kona; and WHEREAS, activities during this meeting include visits by participants to the University of Hawaii Waiakea Experiment Station, the macadamia nut orchards of Puna Macadamia Company and Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corp. in Keaau; and WHEREAS, business proceedings of the meeting include an address by Dr. Russell Stephenson, Australia's foremost authority on Macadamia Nuts, regarding state-of-the-art research pertaining to the industry. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it designates the Month of May, 1990 as "Macadamia Nut Month" in Hawaii County in honor of. this prestigious gathering and extends warmest Aloha and hopes for a productive session by members of the "Hawaii Macadamia Nut Association" and their guests. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the clerk of the County of Hawaii is hereby instructed to send a copy of this resolution to Mr. Charles Young, President of the "Hawaii Macadamia Nut Association.
