RESOLUTION No. 163 90
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.4(c) states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been
made by the council..."; and
WHEREAS, a survey has been taken as to the needs of school
crossing guards throughout the island; and
WHEREAS, Honokaa High & Elementary, Kealakehe Elementary, and
Waimea Elementary schools have expressed needs for school crossing
guards; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Education concurs with the need for
additional school crossing guards at those particular schools; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that Honokaa has a need for two
(2) guards; Kealakehe needs one (1) guard; and Waimea needs two (2)
guards,
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the salaries and wages
account of the Police Department to cover the cost of the additional
School Crossing Guards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that two (2) School Crossing Guard positions be created to be
assigned to Honokaa High & Elementary School, one (1) School
Crossing Guard position be created to be assigned to Kealakehe
Elementary School, and two (2) School Crossing Guard positions be
created to be assigned to Waimea Elementary School.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Police, Civil Service and Finance.
