RESOLUTION No. t~9 90
WHEREAS, Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, requires that any
contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of, funds from
appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal
year be approved by resolution of the Council; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a multi-year lease
contract with purchase options to acquire copier machines; and
WHEREAS, the County Building's Machine Room has produced
approximately three million copies per annum on two copy machines,
the Xerox 7000 and Xerox 8200; and
WHEREAS, the Xerox 7000 is no longer functional after twelve
years service; and
WHEREAS, the Xerox 8200, acquired in 1983, has already exceeded
seventeen million copies; and
WHEREAS, due to the frequent downtime caused by the aged
equipment, departments and agencies have had to bear with longer
turnaround time of their copy requests as well as inconveniencies;
and
WHEREAS, preliminary inquiries indicate that the market may be
right for the replacement of both machines; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of two machines will certainly reduce
the downtime of the Machine Room, thereby improving its productivity
and efficiency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease
agreement with purchase options for the acquisition of copy machines
for the County Building Machine Room.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this
resolution to the Mayor's Office, Director of Finance and
Legislative Auditor.
