HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 201 Draft 02 1988-1992COUNTY OF HAW/~~1 ~;:. , STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION No (Draft 2) 201 90 URGING ESTABLISHMENT OF A POST OFFICE AT HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW ESTATES, KAU, HAWAII WHEREAS, the community of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates desires improved postal services; and WHEREAS, the community is presently served on a contractual service basis at a substation located in the town of Captain Cock, Hawaii, 35 miles away; and WHEREAS, the workiny resident=s of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates are under hardship since they can only get their mail on Saturdays due to the conflict in postal service hours and work hours; and WHEREAS, there is an aggregate of over 500 persons with both assigned postal boxes at Captain Cook substation and on the waiting list for postal boxes; and WHEREAS, a postal office with postal name and zip code located in Hawaiian Ocean View );state has been the goal of many individuals and the community association for many years; and WHEREAS, this community is growing so that a postal facility is a necessity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COTINCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Anthony Frank, United States Postmaster General is urged to establish a post office at Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Kau, Hawaii. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Senator Daniel K. Inouye, Senator Daniel K. Akaka, and Congresswoman Patricia Saiki are requested to give their support and actively pursue establishing a post office at Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Kau, Hawaii. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Honorable Daniel K. Inouye, United States Senator; the Honorable Daniel K. Akaka, United States Senator; the Honorable Patricia Saiki, United States Representative; Anthony Frank, United States Postmaster General; the Honorable John Waihee, Governor of the State of Hawaii; the Honorable Andrew Levin, State Senator; the Honorable Jerry Chang, State Representative; Postmaster Gerald Kubota, District Manager Hawaii; and Mr. Francis Self, President, Hawaiian Ocean View Community Association, Inc.
