RESOLUTION No.

WHEREAS, the Fuku-Bonsai Center located in Keauhou, Kona, is
being developed as a center for internationa]. bonsai, which
includes various bonsai culture technique such as the penjing of
China, bonsai of Japan, tropical Hawaiian bonsai and indoor
bonsai; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii bonsai community has worked for twenty
years toward the creation of an international bonsai center; and
WHEREAS, the Fukumoto bonsai nursery has provided the
commitment, leadership and resources to make such a center a
reality; and
WHEREAS, the center will direct itself to the exhibition,
research, education, promotion and perpetuation of the art and
culture of bonsai; and
Tn]HEREAS, the Fuku-AOnShc Center is planned as a major visitor
attraction that will strengthen and add to the economic base of
our County; and
WHEREAS, the Fuku-Bonsai Center will provide a destination for
the growing ecotourism market; and
WHEREAS, the Fuku-Bonsai Center wil] have its public opening
on October 1, 1990.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII THAT it extends its congratulations and best wishes to the
Fuku-Bonsai Center in its mission to foster the art of bonsai
culture.
BE IT F[JRTHER RESOLVED 'that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a copy of this resolution to Mr. David Fukumoto,
President and General Manager., Fuku-Bonsai.
