RESOLUTION No. ~~ 9U
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.4(c) states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been
made by the council...", and
WHEREAS, through contract with the State Department of Human
Services (DHS), the Hawaii County Office of Aging (HCOA) receives
federal Title XX Social Security Administration funds for provision
of chore services to qualified adults in need of assistance to
maintain independent living; and
WHEREAS, HCOA established a contractual relationship with the
Coordinated Services Program (CSE) to carry out the provision of
chore services contract between HCOA and the DHS for the County of
Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, a recent evaluation conducted by DHS recommended that
additional staff be considered to meet the growing demand for
services; and
WHEREAS, HCOA recently negotiated with DHS and received an
additional $19,965 to enable hiring three additional Community
Services Aid II SR-7 1/2 time workers fir the Hilo/Kau, Kona and
Hamakua districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that three Community Services Aid II SR-7 1/2 time positions
be created for the Hilo/Kau, Kona and Hamakua districts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these positions would be paid by
Federal Title XX funds.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Parks & Recreation, Civil Service,
Office of Aging, and Finance.
