From HS&EDC Chair John Ray, dated Apri113, 1998, transmitting
the recommendations of the Human Services Non-Profit Grant
Review Committee for funding ofnon-profit agencies in Hawaii
County for fiscal yeaz 1998-99. The committee was composed of
two legislative auditor assistants, his aide, and himself, who
reviewed all the applications and prepazed written summaries of
grant submittals for the Council's review and conducted a week-
long site visit inspection and interview of each applicant
organization.
The Committee received applications totaling nearly $1.5 million,
well in excess of the county's $900,000 annual appropriation and
is pleased to apportion its funding recommendations to
substantially sustain funding for critical human services supplied
by a broad spectrum of providers in the County.
