RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.4(c) states that the Mayor has the
power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by
the council...", and
WHEREAS, the recent upgrade of the Police computer system for the
Hilo station and the other police districts islandwide necessitates
full-time devotion to maintenance, upgrading, inputting and debugging
of the systems and programs; and
WHEREAS, utilization of computers requires continued maintenance in
the areas of initialization, operations, programming, and training; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for a Computer Operator SR-15 position to
devote full time in the computer area in the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the Police Department
to create a Computer Operator SR-15 position and that funds are
available in the Police Administration's salaries and wages account,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that a Computer Operator SR-15 position be created and that
funds are available in the Police Administration's salaries and wages
account.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of the Police, Civil Service and Finance.
