WHEREAS, Mr. Fred Y. Fujimoto, Planning Commission Chairman for
the County of Hawaii is leaving government service after serving the
Planning Commission since 1987; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fujimoto, who is well respected for his exemplary
leadership in guiding the development of the Big Island, also served
as Chairman of the Water Commission in 1972, the Civil Defense and
the Police Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, consistent with his philosophy on an individual's
health and welfare, Mr. Fujimoto has for many years been an active
member of the Hilo and Kona Hospital and the State of Hawaii
Hospital Pianagement Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fujimoto, a '42 Hilo High School graduate, moved tc
Kona in 1960 and has since been a resident where he has so greatly
contributed to the community in his unselfish role as a businessman,
community leader and humanitarian; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fujimoto who understands the benefit and value of
team sports, reactivated the game of football at Konawaena High
School and has avidly supported and organized many athletic
functions and organizations in Kona.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it hereby commends Mr. Fred Y. Fujimoto for his
dedicated and untiring public service to the people of the Big
Island and that best wishes be extended to Mr. Fujimoto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a true copy of this resolution to Mr. Fred Fujimoto.

RE: Recognition Resolution for Mr. Fred Y. Fujimoto
Pursuant to Section 1(d) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the
Council of the County of Hawaii, this written approval is submitted
in regards to Resolution No. 336-91, relating to Mr. Fred Fujimoto,
waiving said referral from the Committee on Planning, in order that
appropriate action can be taken by the Council.
In reviewing the contents of the referral, it is deemed advisable
that such waiver be granted.
