WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 46-32, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the
council of any county may appoint and employ personnel as it deems
necessary and prescribe their powers, duties and compensation; and
WHEREAS, the responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant to
the Council Chairman have recently been expanded to include
supervision over five Council Aides who are providing individual
councilmembers with secretarial and clerical assistance in addition
to providing administrative support to the Council Chairman; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Personnel has reviewed the position of
the Administrative Assistant to the Council Chairman and recommends
the following classification and pay grade change:
Change one position Administrative Assistant to the Council
Chairman LR-1 to one position Executive Assistant to the Council
Chairman EA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Ordinance 91-52, the Salary Ordinance, is hereby amended
as follows:
SECTION 3. Rate of Compensation
(B) The salaries of the Executive Assistant, Legislative
Assistants, [the Administrative Assistant] and the Council
Aides of the Office of the County Council shall be at the
following rates:

SECTION 8.01 Office of the County Council
Delete one (1) position Administrative Assistant to the Council
Chairman LR-1 and create one (1) position Executive Assistant to
the Council Chairman EA.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the County Clerk, Civil Service Director and Finance
Director.

RE: Establishing New EA Pay Grade Class For The
Administrative Assistant To The Council Chairman
Attached for your favorable consideration is a resolution
amending the Salary Ordinance by changing the position of
Administrative Assistant to the Council Chairman (LR-1) to
Executive Assistant to the Council Chairman (EA), The Civil
Service Director has reviewed the duties and responsibilities
of the Administrative Assistant and recommends a change in
position classification and pay grade as reflected in the
attached resolution.
