RESOLUTION No. 344 ~*
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.4(c) states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been
made by the council..."; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department, under a
reorganization, has split the Kona CID section into Kona CID, Kona
JAB and Kona Vice sections; and
WHEREAS, there is presently one Police Reporter position and one
Police Reporter TAN position assigned to these three sections; and
WHEREAS, due to the magnitude of the workload as well as the
exigent demands on the Police Reporter, it has been difficult to
recruit for that position; and
WHEREAS, by creating a second Police Reporter SR-15 position in
Kona, there will be, within the stenography field, sufficient
interest generated to fill both Police Reporter positions as well as
the temporary-as-needed position; and
WHEREAS, with the creation of the second Police Reporter
position, the following office furniture and equipment need to be
purchased:
1 L-shaped desk $ 450
1 steno chair 130
1 typewriter 1,500
1 typewriter stand 150
1 computer work station 500
and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the miscellaneous contractual
services account of the Kona CID Division.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that a Police Reporter SR-15 position be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT $20,581 be transferred to the Kona
Police CID Regular S&W account, $2,230 be transferred to the Police
Adm Office Equipment account and $500 be transferred to the Police
Adm Computer Equipment account from the Kona CIS miscellaneous
contractual services account.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Police, Civil Service and Finance.
