HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 370 Draft 01 1988-1992COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION 370 91 WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.4(c) states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council..."; and WHEREAS, Keonepoko Elementary School is a newly-constructed school located in Hawaiian Beaches; and WHEREAS, the school is situated on Kahakai Boulevard, 2.3 miles from the turn off at the Pahoa By-Pass Road; and WHEREAS, anticipated enrollment for the school year beginning on September 3, 1991 is approximately 400 students from kindergarten through grade 3; and WHEREAS, because Kahakai Boulevard experiences heavy traffic during early morning hours, having a school crossing guard to aid the students cross Kahakai Boulevard would alleviate some safety concerns; and WHEREAS, on August 21, 1991, the County Council approved Finance Committee Report No. 424, recommending approval for school crossing guards for Keonepoko Elementary School; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the salaries and wages account of the Police Department to cover the cost of the additional School Crossing Guard; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that one (1) School Crossing Guard position be created to be assigned to Keonepoko Elementary School. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments of Police, Finance and Civil Service. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this 18th day of September 1991.
