RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, March of 1992 is the sixth annual National Women's
History Month; and
47HEREAS, the theme of this year's National Women's History Month
is "47omen's History: A Patchwork of Many Lives;" and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women is
sponsoring a "Real bPomen" creative writing competition for s`_udents
islandwide in grades 5 through 12; and
WHEREAS, the essay contest increases awareness of the many
different ways that women made history in Hawaii and fosters pride
in the outstanding accomplishments of women in Hawaii.
NOS~l THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it recognizes the courage and countless contributions of
women throughout the United States and especially on the Island of
Hawaii during the celebration of t4arch 1992 as Women's History Month.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to
Ms. Kaipo Kincaid, Chairperson, Hawaii County Committee on the
Status of Women and Mrs. Cornelia Anguay, Essay Coordinator, along
with the Council's best wishes for success and recogni`_ion deserving
of their worthy contributions.
