HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 412 Draft 01 1988-1992COUNTY OF HAWAfl STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION N0. 41~ 92 WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council..."; and WHEREAS, each year for the last several years, an increase in the number of police officers have resulted in adding to the burden of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney such as more recruit classes scheduled, additional phone calls requesting advice, and increased referrals to the office; and WHEREAS, the existing staff of attorneys bears a caseload considerably higher than normal or ideal whereby previously simple tasks have become complex with the multitude of reports that the police are now able to investigate and refer; and WHEREAS, an additional Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, LG-O1 and a Legal Stenographer, SR-14 would help to alleviate the burden of the burgeoning caseload; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has funds available in its Regular Salaries and Wages account. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED HY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that one (1) Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, LG-O1, position and one (1) Legal Stenographer, SR-14, position be created and that funds are available in the Regular Salaries and Wages account of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Office of the Prosecuting Office and the Departments of Finance and Civil Service.
