RESOLUTION N0. 425 92
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County
Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create
positions...foz which appropriations have been made by the
council...'; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department, County of Hawaii,
and the Board of Land and Natural Resources, State of Hawaii,
recognize the need for additional beach parks and would like to
provide the residents and visitors with an additional beach park for
recreational purposes; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has entered into a joint agreement
with the State of Hawaii, by its Board of Land and Natural
Resources, to facilitate the opening of Kaelehuluhulu Beach in North
Kona by providing part-time maintenance services at the beach park
for a period not to eaceed two years; and
WHEREAS, with a large geographical area and the location of the
Kaelehuluhulu Park, creating a Park Caretaker I 1/2T position would
be the most feasible; and
WHEREAS, after the end of the two-year period, the Park
Caretaker I 1/2T position shall be reassigned to assist in the Kona
District; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the regular salaries and wages
account of the Parks Maintenance Division.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that one (1) Park Caretaker I 1/2T be created in the Parks &
Recreation Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available in the regular
salaries and wages account of the Parks Maintenance Division.
HE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Parks & Recreation, Finance and
Civil Service.
