HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 433 Draft 02 1988-1992COUNTY OF HACItIA~~~~ -=STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has lost major facilities at Harry K. Brown park and Kaimu Beach Park the recent on-going volcanic eruption of Kilauea; and recreational because of WHEREAS, these parks were extensively used by residents from all parts of our island and our visitors also; and WHEREAS, because these facilities no longer exist, many residents and visitors have "discovered" the beach at Kehena, thus causing many problems to the residents of Kehena subdivisions and the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, Kehena beach is State owned land that lacks restroom facilities, safe public access, and adequate public parking. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that due to the current high level of use, it respectfully requests the State Parks Division of the Department of Land and Natural Resources to immediately address the health problems at Kehena. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to Governor John Waihee; Mr. William Paty, Director, Department of Land and Natural Resources; Mr. Christopher Yuen, Member, Board of Land and Natural Resources; Mr. Ralston Nagata, Administrator, State Parks Division; Senator Andrew Levin and Representative Jerry Chang.
