RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE GRANTING OF LICENSES TO NON-PROFIT
CANOE CLUBS FOR THE PURPOSE OF STORING CANOES AND OTHER PERSONAL
EQUIPMENT AT THE KAILUA PARK TERMINAL BUILDING, TAX MAP KEY:
THIRD DIVISION 7-5-05-83 LOCATED IN KAILUA-KONA.
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has jurisdiction over the
Kailua Park Terminal Building; and
WHEREAS, various non-profit canoe clubs have used the
County's property to store their canoes and gain access to Kailua
Bay for the purpose of recreation; and
WHEREAS, recent acts of vandalism and the theft of property
owned by the county and the canoe clubs illustrate the need for
secure canoe storage facilities; and
WHEREAS, the County through its Department of Parks and
Recreation, desires to give the necessary consent to permit
non-profit canoe clubs to safely store its canoes and other
personal equipment on County property; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-120 (a)(4) of the
Hawaii County Code provides that the County Council may, by a
resolution approved by a majority of its members, direct the
finance director to negotiate the disposition of real property by
granting a license to non-profit organizations on such terms and
conditions as deemed proper.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII THAT: in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 19,
Section 2-120 (a)(4), Hawaii County Code, the director of finance
is authorized to grant licenses to any non-profit canoe club for
the purpose of storing canoes and other personal equipment at the
Kailua Park Terminal Building, Tax Map Key: Third Division
7-5-05-83 located in Kailua-Kona.
