HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 468 Draft 01 1988-1992COUNTY OF HAW.Ai1; "~ ~M~:~STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION No. 468 92 WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii is about to expand its emergency medical service program by acceptance of an aero medivac helicopter from Nansay Hawaii, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the aero medivac helicopter having the capability for Advanced Life Support (ALS) services provides the County of Hawaii with another dimension in providing emergency medical services to its communities; and WHEREAS, the development and growth in the Waikoloa area has firmly established the need for an emergency medical service unit to be located in the area; and WHEREAS, the County also owns a certain three-acre parcel of land in the Waikoloa area which would be most appropriate in accommodating an Aero Medivac program and ground responder unit; and WHEREAS, Nansay Hawaii, Inc., is committed to building the helicopter facility in a location prescribed by the County; and WHEREAS, the Council finds that locating the Aero Medivac program in a new Waikoloa Station would complement the South Kohala Station in improving emergency medical services to the area; and WHEREAS, the balance of the facilities to house a full complement of a ground and helicopter unit at Waikoloa could be funded by existing community benefit assessments placed upon other developers; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it finds that establishing the Waikoloa Station as an Advanced Life Support Station would enhance the county's emergency medical service response capabilities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council finds that the Aero Medivac program will necessitate the construction of certain facilities to house the personnel and equipment and said expenditure would be appropriate on the Waikoloa land. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council commits to utilizing the proceeds from other community benefit assessments to construct an Advanced Life Support Station at the Waikoloa site. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Administration initiate negotiations with the State Department of Health to incorporate the Waikoloa Fire Station as an Advanced Life Support Station. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit copies of this resolution to the Honorable Lorraine R. Inouye, Mayor; John C. Lewin, M. D., Director of Health, State of Hawaii; and Mr. Daniel Ayala, Fire Chief. Dated at Kona, Hawaii, this 17th day of June 1992.
