RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Waimea Community is in need of more areas for
active recreational use to accommodate their increase in
recreational programs and growing population; and
WHEREAS, the area, Waimea Playground Park, commonly
referred to as "Church Row", is already designated for
recreational use, as the name Waimea Playground implies; and.
WHEREAS, the location of approximately three acres, is
large enough to hold one adult soccer field or two intermediate
fields, to include ample area for parking; and
WHEREAS, in keeping with the intent of this park, this
playground area should be made available for active recreational
play by athletic groups as well as the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the Honorable Mayor Lorraine R. Inouye
acknowledge the need for the proper utilization of the Waimea
Playground Park and allowing active recreational play.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
sent to the Honorable Mayor Lorraine R. Inouye, the County
Department of Parks & Recreation Director, and the Waimea
Recreation Association President.

Attached for your consideration, is the resolution requesting
the Mayor to acknowledge the need for more areas for active
recreational use to accomodate the increase of recreational
programs in the Waimea area. The Waimea Playground Park
referred to as "Church Row" needs to be utilized to its fullest
extent.
