RE: Bill to Amend Chapter 2, Administration, Hawaii County Code, Relating to the
Department of Human Resources (Housekeeping Measure)
Attached for the council's consideration is a bill that amends certain sections of Hawaii
County Code, chapter 2, relating to the conversion from the Department of Civil Service to the
Department of Human Resources (Hawai`i County Charter -Article VII, Chapter l).
The Legislative Research Branch analyzed the County Code for all instances of the terms
"department of civil service" and "director of personnel" to be replaced, respectively, by
"department of human resources" and "director of human resources."
This Code amendment is in accordance with the Hawaii County Charter, which was amended
by the electorate during the 2006 General Election, with the contents of Ordinance No. 06-60.
A representative of the Legislative Research Branch will be available at the designated
Committee meeting, should the Committee desire clarification on any matter.
