A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND
LEGISLATIVE BODIES OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`i TO COLLABORATE
AND ENGAGE IN DIALOG REGARDING HIRING A FEDERAL LOBBYIST
SPECIFICALLY TO IDENTIFY AND PURSUE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND
REINVESTMENT ACT ("ARRA") FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, the national economic situation is currently being addressed by
provisions set forth in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ("ARRA"); and
WHEREAS, many projects and programs in the County ofHawai`i qualify for
funding assistance under the provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
("ARRA"); and
WHEREAS, a federal lobbyist employed to identifying these projects and
programs and lobby for their funding on behalf of the County of Hawaii would greatly
expedite access to that funding; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the administrative and legislative bodies of the County ofHawai`i collaborate and
engage in dialog regarding hiring a federal lobbyist specifically to identify and pursue
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ("ARRA") opportunities applicable to the
specific needs of the County ofHawai`i.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward copies of this
resolution to the Honorable Mayor William Kenoi, the Managing Director, the Deputy
Managing Director, Corporation Counsel, the Director of Environmental Management, the
Director of Research and Development, the Director of Finance, the Director of Parks and
Recreation, the Director of Planning, the Director of Public Works, the Director of Data
Systems, and the Honorable Governor Linda Lingle.
