Personally, I think Pete Hoffman has been a balancing, moderating influence in the Council for the past two years, and deserves to remain as Vice Chairman. And, Dominic Yagong has had some wonderful ideas for the budget - we all need to be conservative in spending during this economic crunch. But, the rest of the council didn't want to tighten our collective belt. Now, rather than rewarding creativity and even-handedness, Dennis Onishi and Guy Enriques want to make some changes which seem to favor the East side of the island. Emily Naeole has some good ideas, but has had some unfortunate episodes of bad temper, and can be divisive and acerbic. I hardly think she is appropriate for appointment as vice-chair of the council. Likewise, Brenda Ford has had some very good ideas, regarding flood plains, etc, but now is being punished by possible removal from committees, or at the least changing her position. Overall, I find these latest resolutions unnecessary and insulting. Sincerely, Bekke Hess, Kailua-Kona PS Kelly Greenwell is my representative, but he has been notably silent. Comm. No. D Z. Ref.
