RESOLUTION NO. S~"X ~~
WHEREAS, Dan Wela wag appropriately honored at a testimonial.
dinner held on January 27, 1983, in recognition of his retirement
from Hawaiian Air; and '
WHEREAS, Mr. wale began his nearly 36-year career with
Hawaiian Air as a baggage boy and worked his way up to become
Regional Manager o8 the Big Islands and
WHEREAS, for the past many years, Dan has played an important
role in the travel industry's promotional campaign and was inatru-
mental in the initiation of "The Other Hawaii" which promoted the
Big Island as a tourist destination area, with well received and
well at~Eended presentations; and
WHEREAS, while Dan Wela was an effective representative in
convincing visitors and travel agents alike to visit our island,
he also championed causes that enhanced inter-island travel,
especially the special rates for senior citizens and retirees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TBE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it recognizes Dan Wela as an ambassador of
good will for all of his years of auocessful efforts in creating
a favorable image of the Island of Hawaii, and for his dedication
to the travel industry which he served so well.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
is instructed to remit true copies of this resolution to Dan and
Louise Wela; and to Paul Finazzo, President of Hawaiian Air.
