HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 512 Draft 01 1980-1984:/ O O County of Hawaii- -State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, pursuant to County Charter Section 3-14 interim amendments to the Salary Ordinance may be by resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Salary Ordinance is hereby amended for the following department: SECTION 8.09 (b). RECREATION DIVISION. DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION. 1. Reallocate one position of Parks and Recreation District Supervisor II SR-21, North and South Kona, to Parks and Recreation District Supervisor I SR-18, North and South Kona. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the departments of Parks and Recreation, Finance and Civil Service for their information. Distinguishing Characteristics: Ass~~fisf , This class differs from .t~j at of tecreation t-or in that the Parks and Recreation District Supervi soruassists the Director of Recreation in supervis- ing and coordir~ ting recreation programs of all playgrounds and recreation centers in an assigned district and assists the Director of Mr:.irtenance in supervising and inspecting in the maintenance and beau~ification of parks, park buildings, play- grounds and t?zer r creational areas in an assigned district; whereas the Recreation ~l~~plans, organizes and supervises the recreation programs of several playgrounds. Examples of Duties• Reviews plans for recreational activities submitted by staff members and others in recreation field in an assigned distri-t; assigns and supervises the work of subordinate recreation workers and others; plans and conducts staff meetings; periodically inspects playgrounds and recreation centers; holds periodic conferences and area meetings with recreation workers acid others; coordinates in-service train- ing and instruction of employees; supervises volunteer workers; prepares reports and correspondence relating to the recreation program; attends meetings and work- shops; coordinates recreational activities with private institutions and social agencies; serves on community committees in matters relating to the recreation program; conducts tle Summer-Fun Playground Program; supervises and inspects the maintenance and beautification of parks, park buildings and playgrounds; supervises the planting, cultivation; pruni:rg ~Lrd general care of plants, flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns. Minimum Qualification Regaireme!its: Training and Experience: (lj A combin~.t:ion of education. and experience substantially equivalent to sr:~duation from an accredited college or university with specialization in recreation, physical education, group work, or a related field, and three years of recreation experience, one of which sha21 have been in a supervisory capacity; or (2) any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of: The principles and practices of recreation; the techniques and equipment of recreation; playground admicristrarion and operation; the principles acid practices of instruction and supervision; Troup behavior; in-service training methods; public re]ations; planting, cultivation, pruning and general care of plants, flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns; the identification, characteristics and adaptabilities of a variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees; methods of pre- paring soils for planting and th+: kinds of fertilizer and their uses; plant diseases and pests aril methods of eradicaY.ion and control; operation and mainte- nance of grounds maintenance equipmenrt and tools.
