RESOLUTION N0. J®~ ~~
WHEREAS, Sunka No Izumi, a Japanese Cultural. Club, was founded
to perpetuate Japenese culture and traditions Gy sharing with the
community Asian cultural experiences through.publie lectures,
demonstrations, and exhibits; and
WHEREAS, in its current exhibit at the WailAa Center, entitled
"Hidden Beauty in the Desert," the theme focuses on the
resourcefulness and creativity of World War TI internees, who
created items of necessity and beauty from virtually nothing; and
WHEREAS, Sunka No Izumi, in Featuring these priceless
memorabilia, also honored more than 30 Former internees who are
presently residents hero on the Big Island and Oahu in a
heartwarming opening ceremony on November 14, 1982; and
ialhiEREAS, the sharing of cultural heritages promotes education,
understanding and appreciation, and Posters goodwill in the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LVED 8Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends its sincere congratulations to Bunke No'
Izumi far presenting a unique and culturally enriching exhibit for
the public.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit true copies of this Resolution to Bunke No Izumi,
Dr. Peggy Yorita, Club President, t~9rs. Pat Ozeki, Exhibit
Chairwoman, and Mr. Brian Tanimoto, Designer, for a commendable
public service pro,]ect.
