County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii
Resolution
WHEREAS, pursuant to Act 148, of the 1975 Session, Eighth
State Legislature, the Commission on Organization of Government,
State of Hawaii, submitted its final report to the Legislature; and
WHEREAS, one of the conclusions recognized that State-County
functions should be delineated on the basis of which level can
best handle a particular job; and
WHEREAS, the ever-increasing costs and demands for improved
government services, coupled with the diminishing availability of
resources has caused public officials to place increased emphasis
on productivity and efficiency; and
WHEREAS, the final report of the Commission on Organization of
Government has recommended certain realignments for improvements
of services, functions and programs between local and State
governments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it requests the Senate and the House of
Representatives of the 12th Legislature of the State of Hawaii,
Regular Session of 1983, to reassess the findings and
recommendations of the report by the Commission and if deemed
necessary, to authorize the Commission to reconvene.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit copies of this Resolution to the Honorable Richard Wong,
Senate President and the Honorable Henry Peters, Speaker of the
House.
