RESOLUTION ND. 471 82
WHEREAS, the recent appointment of veteran kameaina iournalist
Maxine Hughes to the editorial staff of the Hawaii Tribune Herald
has added greater depth to the paper's coverage of local, events
and happenings; and
t+IHEREAS, in her role as Lifestyle Editor, Ms. Hughes will be
primarily responsible for writing and editing the human interest
stories that appear weekly in the T.V.- section of the.Sunday
editions; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hughes career as a journalist goes back to 1456
when she began writing for the Tribune Herald as a reporter and
church page editor; and
WHEREAS, during her. 26 years with the paper, she has covered
virtually everything a Tribune Herald reporter covers in addition
to editing the society and food panes for 15 years and serving as
editor of the highly regarded Orchid Isle magazine for B years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII takes oraat pleasure in congratulating Ms. Maxine Hughes
for her recent appointment as Lifestyle Editor of the Hawaii
Tribune Herald.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council also extends its
congratulations to Sherman R. Frederick for his excellent choice
in selecting Ms. Hughes for a job she undoubtedly loves and excels
in.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that true copies of this Resolution be
transmitted to Ms. Maxine Hughes, Lifestyle Editor and
htr. Sherman R. Frederick, Editor of the Hawaii Tribune Herald.
