RESOLUTION NO. 470 82
WHEREAS, the editorial staff of the Hawaii Tribune Herald was
greatly boostered with the recent appointment of Andres "Andy"
Baclig Jr. as Sports Editor; and
WHEREAS, as a Hilo product whose involvement with local and
state sporting events spans a period of more than 20 years, Andy
brings a new dimension, in sports coverage to the Hawaii Tribune
Herald; and
WHEREAS, Andy's familiarity with local sports goes back to the
late 1950's when he prepped at Hilo High School with the parents
of many of the present crop of high school athletes and while
serving as manager for the varsity baseball, basketball and
football teams; and
WHEREAS, his years of experience as a reporter coupled with an
intimate knowledge of Big Island sports, will enable Andy to
provide broad coverage of local sporting events with a touch of
local history and flavoring.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it takes this means to congratulate Andres "Andy"
Baclig Jr. for his appointment as Sports Editor of the Hawaii
Tribune Herald.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council also extends its
congratulations to Sherman R. Frederick, Editor, for his excellent
choice in selecting Andy for such a responsible position with the
paper.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that true copies of this Resolution be
transmitted to Mr. Andres "Andy" Baclig Jr., Sports Editor, and to
Mr. Sherman R. Frederick, Editor of the Hawaii Tribune Herald.
