Resolution
WHEREAS, Robert Raleigh Martin, District Road Overseer for the
Hamakua District, has privileged the County of Hawaii and the
community of Honokaa with fourteen years of diligent service; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martin's work was driven by the challenge that
"The reward of a thing well done is to have done it"; and
WHEREAS, the numerous improvements brought about by the
concentrated efforts of Mr. Martin and his crew have created
better, safer roadways and drainage improvements for the benefit
and betterment of the Hamakua district; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martin was a source of inspiration and motivation
for the men who worked with him which is reflected in their
positive morale, attitude and quality performance on the job; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martin's dependability and responsiveness to the
task were unique qualities on which the community grew to rely.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it establishes the ROBERT RALEIGH MARTIN MUNICIPAL
PARKING CENTER in Honokaa honoring the memory of a truly dedicated
public servant--Raleigh Martin.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it directs the Clerk of the County
of Hawaii to remit true copies of this Resolution to Mrs. Robert
Martin, Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi, and Chief Engineer Edward
Harada.
