Resolution
WHEREAS, Council Resolution No. 365, adopted on May 19, 1982
with the recommendation of the Committee on Public Works, addressed
studying the potential student ridership market for the Hele-On
Bus System; and
WHEREAS, the Council endorsed the idea of conducting a study to.
explore the possible revenue from this source to determine its
impact on increasing transit revenues; and
WHEREAS, this potential revenue bearing student population of
over 23,000 has now been attending schools throughout the island for
over two weeks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that the County Administration be encouraged to expedite
their findings and proposal to increase student ridership to the Council
for approval.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be
instructed to remit copies of this resolution to Mayor Herbert T.
Matayoshi and Transit Operations Manager Steven Shinchi.
