Resolution
WHEREAS, Article III, Section 3-16 of the Hawaii County Charter
enables the County Council to enact zoning ordinances providing it
conforms and implements the General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the County Council adopted Bill 878 on September 15,
1982, which amends the General Plan designating High Density Urban
Development for approximately thirty-nine (39) acres of land located
at the northeastern corner of Puainako Street and Kanoelehua Avenue,
Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-2-47:6; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 758, effective February 22, 1982,
establishes procedures for Council-initiated amendments to Chapter 8
of the Zoning Code; and
WHEREAS, a zoning change of the aforementioned property from
Limited Industrial (ML-20) to General Commercial (CG-20) would
assure coordinated development and the effective implementation of
the General Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it directs the Planning Director to prepare and schedule
a change of zone request from Limited Industrial to General
Commercial of the subject property for review at a Planning
Commission meeting within forty-five (45) days of the effective date
of this resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
remit a copy of this resolution to Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi and
Planning Director Sidney Fuke.
