County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii
Resolution
WHEREAS, business and professionally-oriented conventions,
seminars, and similar meetings facilitate the exchange of
knowledge and latest techniques in advancing technical skills and
overall business development; and
WHEREAS, S. B. 2647 of the 97th Congress, 2nd Session,
proposes to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 by allowing
business expense deductions for conventions and similar business
activities on cruise ships; and
WHEREAS, S. B. 2647 is the kind of progressive legislation our
economy currently needs because it encourages more private sector
spending for domestic goods and services at a time when such
spending is most needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it wholeheartedly endorse passage of S. B. 2647 to
allow business expense deductions for business-related activities
on cruise ships.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Committee On Finance and
the Hawaii Congressional Team: U. S. Senators Daniel K. Inouye and
Spark M. Matsunaga, and U. S. Representatives Daniel K. Akaka and
Cecil Heftel.
Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this 6th day of October 1982.
