Resolution
WHEREAS, Mid-Pacific Air will begin scheduled inter-island air
service between Honolulu and Kona on November 19 and between
Honolulu and Hilo on December 17, 1982; and
WHEREAS, in its second effort to serve the Big Island,
Mid-Pacific Air is planning to offer an innovative approach to
inter-island air travel which includes a Kamaaina Travel Club Fare
for travel card holders of Mid-Pacific, Hawaiian and Aloha
airlines and First Class inflight service; and
WHEREAS, since its inaugural flights to Kauai and Maui from
Honolulu over a year ago, Mid-Pacific Air has established itself
as a reputable, dependable and desirable alternative to air travel
in Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Hawaii considers
Mid-Pacific's planned service to the Big Island as a long overdue
improvement to the present inter-island air travel service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it welcomes Mid-Pacific Air to the Big Island.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council expresses its best
wishes to Mid-Pacific Air for a lasting and fruitful future as the
third major inter-island air carrier to the Big Island.
BE IT FUKTHER RESOLVED that a true copy of this Resolution be
transmitted to Mr. John J. Higgins, President, Mid-Pacific Air.
