RESOLUTION N0. ~~3 ~~
NIHEREAS, in addition to performing an invaluable service to
the Community by identifying and respcnding to ctherwise
unfulfille6 community needs, the foremost contribution of
volunteer activity lies in the selflessness and humanity inherent
in the spirit of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Arthur Ludwig Gehm 11309-1980), recognizing the Waco
for a fire protection program, initiated the drive to establish a
volunteer fire station in Hawaiian Paradise Park ;,rre year after
moving to that area. from his native South DaE<ota in 1971; and
vlHEiiEAS, due to tk?e personal invclvement and perseverance of
Arthur Ludwig Gehm and to thaw volunteers he inspired and who
have carried on after him, the newly Completed and Pully operative
Na~aaiian Paradise Park Volunteer Fira Station 10-C is the physical
legacy of their long sought-far goal.
nOiV, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED t3Y ii1E CGUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAitiAII that it applauds all of those volunteers for their
commitment and desire to preserve the integrity of Hawaiian land
and people through the promotion of fire prevention and protection.
SE I7 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Ccuncil of the County of
Hawaii commends the decision to posthumously name Station 10-C in
honor of its founder, ARTHUR LUUS•1IG GEH~1, in reCaynition of his
deep sense of aloha for the Iand and the people of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Wawaii
transmit true Copies of this Resoluticn to Claire Helen Gehm,
widow, and to Station 10-C.
