Resolution
WHEREAS, on July 22, 1982, the Office of the Legislative Auditor ,released
findings of its study which was to determine the overall ne.eds.of office space
for the optimum operations of the County government; and
WHEREAS, this report brings to light several viable and potential solutions
to the County's increasing needs and demands for office space, including
possibilities such as the availability'of both the Hilo Lagoon and the Sheraton
Waiakea Village Hotels or the construction of a new.facility at the-old County
building site; and
WHEREAS, because one of these opportunities may effectuate long range cost
savings and the consolidation of the county operations will no doubt increase
the county's effectiveness in the delivery of public service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. that
it requests that any plans or expenditure of funds for the relocation of any
county agency from the County building be held in abeyance until such. time as
the space study report now before the County Council can be fully deliberated
upon and meaningful recommendations made.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Engineer be directed not to call for
bids and the Finance Director not certify fund availability for the renovation
of the Hilo Hospital and that all stipulations of this resolution be in effect
until September 15, 1982.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be instructed
to remit true copies of this resolution to Mayor Herbert Matayoshi, Finance
Director Stanley Nakamae and Chief Engineer Edward Harada.
