RESOLUTION NO. G"J9 ~~
WHEREAS, Donald K. Yamada was recently elected and installed as
the president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of
Hawaii for the fiscal year 1983-84; and
/'6 WHEREAS, in heading this respected organization of 386 members,
Don Yamada brings with him impressive credentials befitting this
responsible position, such as, being past president of the following
entities, namely the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, the
Construction Industry Legislative Organization (CILO), the Hawaii
Island Contractors Association, and served as president and District
Governor of the Civitan Hawaii District Hilo Club; and
WHEREAS, this kama'aina businessman who received his formal
education at Kamehameha School and from the University of Redlands,
has committed during his tenure a positive and strong approach in
addressing the economic concerns of the County of Hawaii; and '
WHEREAS, in light of the adverse status of our island's economy,
a closer rapport and communication must be developed between the
business and governmental sectors in order to enhance meaningful
discussions and hopefully mutually attained and beneficial decisions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends congratulations to Don Yamada as the
in-coming president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry
of Hawaii for his forthrightness, his civic mindedness and his
business acumen which will be needed to articulate and present the
views of an esteemed portion of our business community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
instructed to transmit true copies of this resolution to
Mr. Donald K. Yamada, President of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce
and Industry, along with best wishes for a successful year.
