Resolution
WHEREAS, pursuant to County Charter Section 3-14 ic~term amegdments
to the Salary Ordinance may be by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Salary Ordinance is hereby amended for the following department:.
SECTION 8.14 (b). FISCAL DIVISION. DEPARTMENT OF WATER SUPPLY
1. Change the status. of one position of Meter Reader I SR-8
from temporary to permanent.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted
to the departments of Water Supply, Finance and Civil Service for their
information.

Duties Surmnarv•
Rears and records the._readings=of_water meters; and performs other related
duties as required.
Dist'inguishirs Characteristics:
Thic class is distinguished by its responsibility for reading and recording
the readings of water meters in an assigned geographical area as a continuing
assignment.
Examples of Duties:
Rears water meters anc. records readings in meter book; computes water
consumption; checks consumption figures with previous recordings and when significant
discrepancy noted advises conswners of abnormal water conswnption; advises and
informs consuners of rules and regulations applicable to obstructions on or around
water meters; prepares and submits daily report of work required in the field;
detects and reports evidences of water leakage, damaged meters and outlets; receives
complaints from consumers on service and main line leakages and reports same to
main office; instructs and directs substitute meter readers during sick leave or
vacation of meter reader; makes out daily time sheet; changes broken meter boxes
and/or covers when necessary; assists in posting of consumers' meter records after
monthly meter so3adule.
N.inimum (qualification ~:eguirements:
Traiaina and Experience: a combination of education and experience sub-
stantially e.l.uvalent to graduation from high school including or supplemented
by ccrranercial training and two years of clerical experience; possession of a motor
vehicle operator's license.
6nowledge of: urban and rural streets and roads in the County of Hawaii;
clerical practices; record keeping.
~.bility to: make correct meter readir~gs and simple arithmetical computa-
tions; compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately; prepare simple but concise
reports; operates a truck; maintain good public relationship; understand and follow
oral and written instructions.
Health and Physical Condition:
Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the
health and physical coalition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance
of the duties. '
