RESOLUTION N0. ~~i5 ~~
WHEREAS, Mr. Jimmy Souza was elected as the first President of
the Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce on January 8, 1982,
and proceeded to coordinate the myriads of Chamber activities
efficiently and effectively; and
WHEREAS, as its Charter President, Jimmy played a major role in
building the reputation of the Portuguese Chamber as an active
organization dedicated to furthering the economic well-being of
businesses locally and statewide; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Souza's foresight to establish a solid lobbying
effort during the 1983 Legislative Session proved beneficial to many
businesses, and ultimately, to the betterment of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Portuguese Chamber provided valuable, timely input
to governmental policymakers, which has served to foster even
stronger ties between business and government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it congratulates Mr. Jimmy Souza for serving as the
Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce Charter President and
commends him for a job "Very t9e11 Done" in its inaugural year in
operation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
remit a true copy of this Resolution to Mr. Jimmy Souza and to the
Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.
