RESOLUTION N0. ASS ~~
WHEREAS, the Naalehu Fourth of July Celebration is an annual
event sponsored by the Naalehu Community Club to benefit the youth
programs of the area; and
WHEREAS, Naalehu, as the "Southernmost Host in the United
States", will feature a rodeo, motorcycle races, a children's E3MX
bicycle race and an old-fashioned horseshoe tournament; anti
VJHEREA5, this year's 41st celebration wil also include the
second "Hula Kahiko Ona Kana" (Ancient Hula of the Dian) event; and
WHEREAS, the proceeds from the funds raised by the celebration
will benefit many youth programs such as Girl Scouts, T-Ball, Little
League, Pop Warner Football, the Ka'u High School Eland, and
scholarship assistance for Ka'u students; and
WHEREAS, the theme of this year's celebration, "HO'opili Mana'o
0 Aloha", meaning "Feelings United in Love", is the inspiration to
draw the community together; and
WHEREAS, as in the past, the Parks & Recreation and Public Works
Departments of the County of Hawaii are "lending-hands" in equipment
and facilities, to help make the 1983 Fourth of July celebration a
success.

NOW, THEREFORE, 6E IT RESOLVED EiY THE COUNCIL DF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it expresses its thanks and appreciation to the A4ayor
for rendering the needed assistance given to the Naalehu Community
in making avaiiabie men, equipment, and facilities, for their Fourth
of July celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it urges all of the citizens of the
County of Hawaii to ,join in on the fun and celebration and to
support the festival sponsored by the Naalehu Community Club.
6E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be
instructed tc remit a true copy of this resolution to
John Santangelo, President of the Naalehu Community Club.
