WHEREAS, the Kanreki acknowledges the aging of man and his
entering his second childhood and his second cycle in life; and
WHEREAS, the 12 oriental zodiac years muitipiied by the 5
celestial symbols result in "Kanreki," a person's 60th year (61st by
the oriental calendar). In the age of man, he is entering his
second childhood, his second cycle in life. Hence, his Kanreki is
an auspicious year celebrated by the wearisig-of a red cap, the
symbol of his second childhood; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas Nakahara, a prominent business leader from
the town of Paauilo, celebrates his Kanreki' on June 25, 1983; and
WHERE A5, Mr. Nakahara's perseverence to succeed can be reflected
throughout t~is family's achievements; wife, Bernice, runs a
successful beauty salon; daughter, Ooreen, is associated with the
PepperUine University; and son, Scoti, is a recent graduate from the
Loyola Dental School; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nakahara, has always lent his energy and devotion
to tiie causes of the many community organisations to which he
belongs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED 8Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
1-IANAII that it congratulates for. Thomas Nakahara upon his Kanreki
celebration and trusts that fie enjoys eoual success as he enters
another phase in the Japanese life cycle.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
trans{nit a true copy of this Resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Nakahara, his daughter, Doreen and his son, Scott.
